I love to see the results of a room transformed! We worked upstairs in our blue cottage and finished the night before we left. We only had one night to appreciate what we accomplished before we headed home to Moscow. But what a whirlwind of change we made happen in just a couple of weeks. I can see the still life I’ll be setting up here to paint when we return. I envision this room as an upstairs studio, but each room in this wonderful cottage gets my still life sense tingling! Below is a slide show of some of the challenges and changes we faced.
The first effort was removing the peeling, water-damaged wallpaper. Unfortunately, it was the only thing holding the wall up. When we returned, it was on the floor.
Bill performed magic with beadboard and we papered the ceilings and walls. We painted the floors and found wonderful chairs at estate sales and at the Habitat Restore.
The rooms are very sparse, but it’s a refreshing change from the clutter we’ve accumulated here at home, and finding just the right stuff that feels like it truly belongs is such a good adventure!
We’re so looking forward to being back there in our beautiful little community with it’s library, post office, general store and working lobster harbor! Can’t wait…and lest I forget, lots more progress to be made on reclaiming this old beauty!
